The only explanation for this right now is that Microsoft have enabled the app to work on the device. This however has territory restrictions which they have not restricted geographically. Inshort all users will get the message. All the information I have come across is indicative of them enabling their entire product offering via Petal Search and Quick Apps.
The next time you get an error, click on the more option on the error tab and silence it. Pop up will normally appear in standby access it from there and enter settings. You will be able to switch it off.
Petal Search and Findora App will together give you a broad range of HMS ready apps.
The easiest way to access Findora – from your home screen simply search “Findora” and open. Select apps on the next screen and scroll through available apps.
Some apps may send you to the developer’s website. This is the result of them being listed as “Unknown Apps.” To accept these apps and to enable downloads do the following…
Go to and open “Settings,” scroll to and open security. Open “More Settings,” look for and open “Install apps from external sources.” You will find a list of apps labelled “Not Allowed.” Select apps of your choice and chose “Allow App Installs.”
This list may grow, revisit when you have challenges downloading.
When your new Huawei device initiates its 1st boot it will prompt you to install as a new installation or copy (clone) another device.
To (clone) copy all the data from an old device, go to the old devices app store – search for and install “Phone Clone.” This is available in Play Store and Apples App store.
Once installed open Phone Clone on the old device and scan the QR code on the new device screen. A menu of items available to clone from the old device will open. You may choose which items to clone or allow device to clone all. When you start cloning, the new device will indicate how long it will take to complete each clone line item.
Depending on the files to be cloned, run this process over a wifi connection as some media and email storage tend to be large deposits.
An easy alternative to accessing the full range of Google apps is Petal Search.
Open the Huawei AppGallery and search “Petal Search”
Once installed search for YouTube or Gmail. Select the desired app and open or install as required.
Where available Apps can be downloaded directly to your Home Screen via Quick App Centre. You will recognise downloadable apps by a lightening bolt on the bottom left of the app icon.
The Huawei P40 after your second Quick App Center download will prompt you to save Quick App Centre to your home screen. Once you do, looking for apps here will be second nature.
